. Kits are cast aluminum alloy (not forged) with an
18-20% silicone content, which produces a light but
strong piston. Piston skirts are Bisulphide-coated for faster break-in
time and increased piston life.
All pistons are heat-treated with a T-5 hardening and tempering cycle
. Standard pistons and components are O.E.M.
replacements
. Most Vertex pistons are made for standard size
cylinder only, except the CR500, Banshee and
Blaster
. A, B, C, and D piston sizes are 0.01mm variations
in the piston size to increase or decrease the
clearance within the cylinder, except for overbores
. Race pistons are available for a variety of models
and are built for higher compression and more
horsepower
. A single ring is used on all race pistons reducing
frictional drag and giving higher RPMs
. Race gas is recommended for all Vertex race
pistons
. Kits include piston, ring, piston pin (wrist pin)
and circlips
. Replacement rings are sold individually, order 2
for dual-ring pistons
